The challenge
Charing on solar energy
At the beach of Bloemendaal aan Zee and Circuit Park Zandvoort, parking lots P1 and P2 will be equipped with a solar canopy. The two parking lots will be equipped with nearly 5,000 solar panels, sufficient for approximately 600 households worth of electricity. An important requirement from the executive board of Bloemendaal is that P1 and P2 also be equipped with 15 charging stations with 30 charging points for electric cars. Because both the circuit and the beach receive many foreign tourists, the Board has added an additional requirement to equip the charging stations with debit card acceptance in addition to charging cards.

The solution
A versatile charging park including debit card acceptance
Maxem’s CPO platform Maxem Energy Cloud already supported the ability to monitor and manage charging points and the settlement of charging card transactions. Together with payment provider Worldline, Maxem has added support for payments with bank cards to the platform. Of the 15 charging points for Groendus (formerly Rooftop Energy), a total of 8 charging points are equipped with the latest Worldline Valina payment terminal with built-in touchscreen for PIN entry. Furthermore, the combination of the Maxem CPO platform and the Wordline platform ensures that any debit/credit, Apple Pay or Google Pay payment card can be accepted and that the settlement towards Groendus is carried out.

The result
A unique charging solution in Europe
The Maxem solution with Worldline at the Solar Park Carport of the Municipality of Bloemendaal makes it possible for every visitor to pay for their charging sessions without the need for a special charging card subscription. Not only does the visitor know in advance what he or she pays per kWh charged - charging is always possible thanks to a wide coverage of payment methods such as Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Apple Pay, and more. This innovative integration of the Valina payment terminal in a public charging station is exceptionally unique in Europe!
