The Tesla Wall Connector by far the best option to charge a Tesla. It looks great, offers convenient charging and at $500 it has a favorable price too. Yet, there always is some room for improvement. When connecting a Maxem to the Tesla Wall Connector, customers are able to opt for solar charging as well as dynamic load balancing to speed up charging and protect a tight grid connection against overload.
Grid connections over the world vary in size and power. The Netherlands is an excellent example of a country with smaller grid connections – 25A is the maximum rated Amperage. Charging a Tesla at home while running other appliances at home sometimes is a challenge. Therefore, Maxem engineers thought of a solution that measures grid load and sets charging speed accordingly. This greatly reduces grid overload risk, while charging speed is boosted. See our load balancing article for more info.
Using similar measurements, Maxem also measures solar power and translates this into enhanced charging speeds. This is beneficial for customers in for example Germany, where net metering is absent for solar power. Solar charging is enabled using the Maxem App.

Multiple Wall Connectors optional
The system is capable of controlling multiple Tesla Wall Connectors at a single location. By default, charging is equally split between 2 cars connected, while the user may choose to set priority at one Wall Connector. This results in faster charging for one car if needed. This feature is currently being tested in the field and will be released at later date.
Energy monitoring and control
One of the cooler things of Maxem is the split-up of energy flows at home. Grid, home energy, solar power, heating and car charging are all visible as separate energy flows. Turns out, at most customers there is an even split in energy consumption between home energy, car charging and heating energy use. More info can be found at our energy monitoring article.
Product rolling out
Maxem is built for the European grid for now. With significant interest, the product will be introduced to the US in 2019. EU customers can order Maxem online via the Maxem webshop.
